- 01✴️ Intact Males Can intact males (not neutered) attend camp? To help maintain a safe and balanced group environment, we are unable to accept new intact males over 1 year of age. Existing intact male campers are welcome to continue attending past 1 year. If behaviour changes as they mature, we’ll always communicate and reassess together. Why is there an age limit? As dogs mature, hormones can begin to influence behaviour, especially in a group play setting. This policy helps us keep camp safe, predictable, and comfortable for all campers. What if my dog is under 1 year old? Intact males under 1 year are welcome to attend, provided they meet all other requirements and pass their assessment. Questions? If you’re unsure whether your pup is a good fit, feel free to reach out, we’re always happy to chat. ✴️ Females In Heat Can my pup come to camp while in heat? As much as we love seeing our campers, dogs in heat will need to stay home during this time. How long is a heat cycle? Every dog is a bit different, but most heat cycles last about 2–4 weeks. Why do dogs need to stay home for 4 weeks? The most fertile stage often happens after the bleeding ends and can continue for another 1–2 weeks. Because the timing and signs can vary, we require intact females to stay home for the full 4 weeks from the start of their heat cycle to avoid any risk. Can my pup come back sooner? Possibly! If you’d like an earlier return, we just need a vet confirmation that your pup is no longer in heat. This is usually done through: bloodwork or vaginal swab Why do we have this policy? With so many dogs playing together, even small changes can have a big impact. This policy helps us keep camp balanced, low-stress, and safe for all our campers. Unsure about timing or have questions? Feel free to reach out anytime, we're happy to help!
- 02What vaccines are required for camp? All campers must have up-to-date vaccinations for: 🐾 Bordetella (kennel cough) 🐾 DAPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza) 🐾 Rabies Do puppies need all their vaccines before attending? Yes. Puppies must have completed their full vaccine series, including boosters, before coming to camp. This normally happens around 16 weeks. How do I submit my dog’s vaccination records? You can upload your dog’s records directly to your Gingr account. Please note that records must be manually verified by our team, so the system message will not disappear right away.
- 03What is kennel cough? Kennel cough is similar to a common cold in humans. It’s a highly contagious respiratory illness that can spread quickly in group environments or any public place. My dog is vaccinated, can they still get kennel cough? Yes. The Bordetella vaccine helps reduce severity but does not fully prevent it, similar to the human flu shot. What are the symptoms of kennel cough? ➡️ A persistent, dry, hacking cough that sounds like a “goose honk” or as if something is stuck in the dog’s throat ➡️ Runny nose ➡️ Sneezing ➡️ Watery eyes ➡️ Lack of energy ➡️ Reduced appetite What if my dog shows symptoms? Due to its highly contagious nature, we do require any dog displaying symptoms of respiratory illness or confirmed kennel cough to take a short break from Camp until they’ve fully recovered and symptoms are no longer present. How long will be dog have to stay home? ➡️ Without treatment: Dogs confirmed with kennel cough or another respiratory illness who do not receive antibiotic treatment must remain at home for 21 days from when symptoms first appeared. ➡️ With treatment: Dogs confirmed with kennel cough or another respiratory illness who do receive antibiotic treatment must remain at home for 14 days from the start of treatment. ➡️ In both cases: Dogs must be completely symptom-free for at least 7 full days before returning to Camp. Do I need to let Camp know if my dog is sick? Yes. Even mild symptoms can spread quickly in a group setting. Letting us know helps us protect the health of all campers and keep camp running smoothly. Will my dog lose their spot if they stay home? Not at all. We always appreciate you keeping your pup home when they’re not feeling well, it helps everyone in the long run.
- 04Can my dog attend camp with digestive issues? No. Dogs experiencing diarrhea, vomiting, or other digestive upset will need to stay home. What is Giardia? Giardia is a parasite that affects the digestive system and can cause symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy. How does Giardia spread? Giardia is typically spread through contaminated water, soil, or contact with infected stool. While it’s not something we see often, we take a cautious approach to keep all campers safe. What should I do if my dog may have Giardia? We recommend contacting your vet for testing and treatment if needed, and please let us know as soon as possible so we can support a safe return to camp. When can my dog return to camp? If Giardia is confirmed, dogs must: ➡️ Complete treatment as directed by their vet (typically 5–10 days) ➡️ Be symptom-free for at least 48 hours ➡️ Provide a negative fecal test confirming they are clear Have questions? We’re here to help. Reach out anytime and we’ll walk you through next steps.
